Institution Notes:
The Stockholm University College of Music Education was founded in 1960, becoming a University College in 1994. It trains solo instrumental and vocal teachers, and instrumental and choral ensemble directors as well as graduates in related arts. Minimum age at entry is 22 years, together with two years of teaching experience. There is a fine percussion studio and a digital piano studio. The methodology includes song as a teaching and learning tool in all music education, the offer of Afro-American styles as major studies, recognition of the potential of music teaching through aural traditions as well as through note-reading and instrumental teaching both individually and in small groups. All courses are taught in Swedish. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
