The Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana (Conservatorium of Italian-Speaking Switzerland) consists of general, preparatory and professional divisions. The general division offers music training to young people and interested adults, leading to the award of a Certificat d'études non-professionnelles being issued on completion. The preparatory division presents a more advanced program for those interested in moving later to the professional level. The professional division forms the music department of the Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana (the University of Music). Language of instruction is Italian, but in the Master’s program other languages, French, German or English, may be used. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
