Details:

The training programs cover the levels of Professional Certificate, Licentiate and Diplôme Supérieur. Specific courses offer programs in eurhythmics, solfège, improvisation, musicianship skills, methodology and teaching practice.


Institution Notes:

The Institute was founded in 1915 by Émile Jaques-Dalcroze. It provides specific training in Dalcroze techniques, and works in conjunction with the Haute École de Musique de Genève where some of its programs are held. The qualifications issued by the Institut Jaques-Dalcroze are: • Professional Certificate of the Dalcroze Eurhythmics International Examination Board (DEIEB). Completion of the Certificate entitles the holder call him/herself a Dalcroze teacher of Eurhythmics to beginners, children or adults. • Licentiate of the DEIEB entitling the holder to teach Dalcroze Eurhythmics at an advanced level. • Diplôme Supérieur. The highest qualification issued by the Institut, and only available after a period of study in Geneva. All training programs involve the essential elements of eurhythmics, solfège, improvisation on piano or other instrument and musicianship training, body techniques, methodology and teaching practice. The library holds an archive of the development of the Dalcroze method as well as articles, press cuttings, programs, photographs, correspondence and letters of Dalcroze. There is an attached School of Music that offers programs in eurhythmics, solfège, piano, improvisation and body movement to children and interested members of the community. The Institute is subsidised by the Canton of Geneva, with the support of the City of Geneva. Language of instruction is French.
