Institution Notes:

The National University of the Arts was previously known as the National Taiwan College of Arts (founded in 1955), and gained university status in 2001. In addition to Schools of Music, Fine Arts, Theatre, Film and New Media, Cultural Resources and Dance there are Institutes of Musicology and Orchestra and Percussion Research. The Department of Traditional Music was added in 1998. Facilities include two Indonesian gamelans, a Caribbean steel pan ensemble, a collection of materials on Chinese regional opera, a new concert hall and 280 practice rooms.
