Institution Notes:
The Tajik National Conservatory was founded in 2009. This co-educational institution has departments of music performance, cultural science (including musicology), music education, library science, dance and drama. The Conservatory is host to the annual Bahoriston classical music festival which aims to unify the creative and organisational resources of the four national conservatories of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, and to present them to the public. Two attached music secondary schools give music tuition to talented young people. The Conservatorium supports the initiatives of the Bactria Cultural Centre in promoting music events and cultural activities in Dushanbe.
