Diploma in Music and Sound Production. Two years. Studies include performance (Western, traditional instruments) and one other area (chosen from dance, drama, fine arts, multimedia), composition, arts management, sound engineering.
Institution Notes:
Established in 1981 as the Bagamoyo College of Arts, this institution gained its current name and status in 2007 (an English translation of the original name 'Taasisi ya Sanaa na Utamaduni Bagamoyo' [TaSUBa]). Bagamoyo is situated 72 kilometers north east of Dar es Salaam. This creative, innovative semi-autonomous governmental institution offers programs in music, dance, drama, art history, acrobatics, stage direction and arts management. The training focuses mainly on traditional East African and Swahili culture. Only Africans are admitted to the full course, but non-Africans are welcome to participate in the workshops and practical seminars. The institute organizes the yearly Bagamoyo International Arts Festival.
