Institution Notes:
A private liberal arts university founded in 1974 by the Church of Christ in Thailand. The Christian Communication Institute is a centre for dance, drama, music and Christian outreach. The university also has a Centre for Arts and Culture, aiming to study and preserve traditional North Thailand (Lanna) dance and music, and offering lessons on playing traditional instruments to students and staff. Ensemble groups include a Thai ensemble, a big band, the Chiang Mai Philharmonic Youth Band, the Chiang Mai Symphony Orchestra and handbell group. There is a collection of Thai instruments for student use. The Lanna Music Festival and Competition is held annually. An Academy of Music offers lessons to interested members of the local community.
