Details:
Diploma of Music. Five years. Studies include performance (piano, violin, violoncello, Arabic instruments - 'ud [lute], qânûn [zither], tabla [percussion], nay [flute]), history of Arabic music, Arabic modes, theory. Violin and violoncello studies may be taken in both Arabic and Western styles. On completion the student earns a Diploma in Arabic Music (or an Instrument).
Institution Notes:
The Centre, created in 2012, comes under the jurisdiction of the Ministry for Culture, Youth and Leisure. Studies are offered to interested students between the ages of 16 and 25, involving five years of intensive study to gain the Diploma.
