Institution Notes:

Ege University was founded in 1955, and the State Conservatory was established in 1983. The Conservatory has four departments: 1) Turkish Art Music and Folk Music, 2) Voice Education, with studies in both Turkish and Western solfège and theory, folklore and style, 3) Turkish folk dance, and 4) Instrument making and maintenance of instruments that are part of Turkish culture. Facilities include a 150-seat concert hall, a computer lab, a modern recording studio and two dance studios. The library houses an audiovisual archive for Turkish music. On campus is an instrument making workshop and sales showroom. Languages of instruction are Turkish and English.
