Institution Notes:
The University was established in 1926 as the ‘Teacher Training Institute’ and its Music School was established in 1936 under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In 1938, two years later, the Music School was divided into two. Part remained at Gazi University, becoming its Department of Music Education. The other part became the Ankara State Conservatorium, and later, in 1982, it became the Conservatorium of Music at Hacettepe University. The Gazi University also operates a Turkish Music State Conservatory.
