Institution Notes:

This private university was founded in 1984. Its Faculty of Music and Performing Arts was one of the first in Turkey. The graduate school is known as the Institute of Music and Performing Arts. Facilities include a concert hall and 200 sound-proof class and practice rooms. There are also attached kindergarten, primary and secondary schools where music training is given to talented students. A professional preparatory program of one to two years caters for those wishing to further prepare for entry to the music faculty. Performance lessons are offered to interested members of the public. Language of instruction is English. The library holds all the manuscripts, books, letters and memorabilia of the Turkish composer Ahmed Adnan Saygun. The music school organises the Bilkent International Anatolian Music Festival and oversees the International Chopin Piano Competition and other national and international events.
