Institution Notes:
The University of Southampton can trace its history back to 1862. The music department has a collection of historical and modern keyboard instruments, early stringed and wind instruments, modern orchestral instruments and a wide range of percussion instruments. Facilities include a purpose-built concert hall with a classical organ, practice and rehearsal rooms, a well-equipped electronic music studio and a computer laboratory. The library holds a collection of Mahler's conducting scores with his autograph annotations (the Anna Mahler Collection).
