Institution Notes:
The University of Reading can trace its history back to 1860. In 1926 it was granted a Royal Charter enabling it to award its own degrees. The Institute of Education has an International Centre for Research in Music Education. The Centre houses a range of materials for the use of teachers, researchers and students. It also holds the Schools’ Council Project material and collections of British publications and equipment for primary and secondary school music. The library holds the Finzi Collection of some 900 books and 7,000 items of music, just a few of Finzi's own published works but a larger collection of works by his contemporaries. There is also a collection of c.700 sets of orchestral parts.
