Institution Notes:
The University of Nottingham can trace its history back to 1881. It gained its current name and status in 1948. The music department is particularly strong in twentieth century music and composition. There are well-equipped electronic studios. Performance is regarded as an optional course. The music department holds a collection of early instruments and a video archive of opera.
