Institution Notes:
The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) has been developing and delivering contemporary music education for over 30 years - longer than any other music school in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1986, it was originally known as The Guitar Institute and Basstech, but soon expanded to offer courses in drums, vocal and other instruments, songwriting, music business and music production. Classes are small, with one-to-one tuition, high teaching contact hours, personal approach to student engagement and support as well as dynamic use of technology in the classroom. ICMP has a wide range of music industry connections and holds an annual summer school. It has recently acquired the pre-existing Alchemea Music Production College which will continue its music production and sound engineering courses as www.icmp.ac.uk/alchemea-at-icmp/. There are campuses at Kilburn and Queen’s Park. Alexander Technique is available to students in all courses.
