Bachelor of Music (Hons). Three or four years. Studies include performance (classical, early music, jazz), composition, musicology, ethnomusicology. Bachelor of Science (Hons) Music, Sound and Technology. Three or four years.


Institution Notes:

City, University of London was founded in 1894 as the Northampton Institute. It gained its current name and status in 1966 and has been a constituent college of the University of London since 2016. Facilities include well-equipped sound recording and electroacoustic music studios, an early music room, practice rooms, six computer-based composition studios and a computer laboratory. The Department of Music houses the Anderson Collection of early instruments as well as two gamelans and a variety of Japanese, Chinese and Indian instruments. Ensembles include African drumming and dance, gamelan and Indian music group. The Department of Music has established links with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama which provides individual tuition in Western performance. A research fellowship in music therapy is available for graduate music therapists.
