Institution Notes:

This institution was established by the Church of England in 1962 as a teachers' college. In 1998 the expanded institution was renamed Canterbury Christ Church University College. It gained its full university status and name in July 2005. It operates on a number of sites within the city of Canterbury as well as at Broadstairs and Chatham. There are well-equipped music technology studios. The Sidney De Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health was established in 2004 in Folkestone on the East Kent coast as a joint initiative of the faculties of Health and Social Care and of Arts and Humanities. Currently it enables musician volunteers to come together with groups of elderly people and encourage them to participate in singing and music making. Plans are under way to expand and develop a research strategy for future development. A music access program is available for students wishing to apply for a place on a music degree program.
