Diploma in Music. Studies include performance (classical, popular, bandoneón), instrumental conducting, music history, harmony, solfège.
Institution Notes:
In Uruguay all 19 municipal governments support local music schools. This is the most highly developed Municipal Music School in Uruguay, founded in 1941 and training instrumental players and conductors at the professional level. All tuition is free. The School has a choir and a course of vocal technique is held for the choir members. Children are accepted from age 8. Instrument tuition may begin with an additional year’s preparatory course if deemed necessary. There are close links with the School of Music of the University of the Republic in Montevideo.
