Bachelor of Music. Four years. Specialisation include performance, composition and theory, musicology and sound studies, music education. Studies may include choral and instrumental conducting, composition, film scoring, sound design. Music and Computer Science may be taken in either the degree of Bachelor of Fine arts or the Bachelor of Science.

Master of Arts. In musicology, ethnomusicology, performance. Master of Music. In performance, string quartet performance, composition, choral, wind band or orchestral conducting, music technology. Doctor of Philosophy.


Institution Notes:

The University of Victoria can trace its history back to 1903, and gained its current name and status in 1963. The School of Music is situated in the MacLaurin Building which houses the 220-seat Phillip T Young Recital Hall. It is an All-Steinway School and has an active opera workshop. Facilities include digital music/recording studios with state-of-the-art equipment and several fine performance spaces. A computer music option is available in electrical or computer engineering.
