Part-time tuition is offered to children and interested adults in performance (piano, Western orchestral instruments), theory and aural training. Students may receive tuition leading to music at 'O' and 'A' levels or to the Grade levels and the LRSM performing diploma of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London.
Institution Notes:
A private non-profit music academy established in 1949 and receiving limited government financial support. The Academy organises a classical music festival every two years, and has a parallel concert series of other types of music. There is a well-equipped School of Rock which teaches guitar, drumming, voice and other rock instruments and organises a pop band. Facilities include the 400-seat Robert Sibson Hall. The Academy is formally linked with Girls College in Bulawayo and acts as an adjunct to that school’s music department.
