Institution Notes:

The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music was founded in 1899 as an independent non-profit community music school. It operates on three campuses in Milwaukee. The Conservatory does not award degrees but offers music instruction to young people and interested members of the local community, in performance (classical, jazz, rock, folk, blues and the like) and theory, aural training, music history and literature, composition, music technology, recording techniques, music industry and ensemble experience. Advanced programs lead to internal certificates. Scholarships are available to the musically talented, and financial aid is awarded to the economically disadvantaged and to children and adults with disabilities. The Conservatory organises a music therapy program available on a contractual basis, and tailor-made to the specific needs of each agency or individual. There are programs for the very young as well as for people with disabilities. It is served by a well-stocked library of books, scores and recordings and a well-equipped electronic resource centre. There is a Suzuki string program. The conservatory has active connection programs with local elementary, middle and high schools. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
