Studies include music history, aural skills. Bachelor of Musical Arts. Four years. A focus on jazz and contemporary improvisation. Studies include recording arts, electronic music, songwriting.


Institution Notes:

A private liberal arts and sciences university founded in 1847. The Conservatory of Music was established in the same year. Facilities at the Conservatory include some fine performance spaces, a well-equipped recording/editing studio and more than 50 practice rooms. The Conservatory owns an Indonesian gamelan. Alexander Technique is offered to students. There is an active music theatre program. The Lawrence Academy of Music offers music programs to children and interested members of the local community, with special adult programs and an early childhood music program using the Kodály philosophy. The Conservatory’s String Project is a teacher-training program for conservatory students, with classes taught by string majors to local children, at affordable prices. The program is organised in partnership with the American String Teachers Association. Some use is made of the Suzuki method. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
