Professional Studies Diploma. In early childhood music training, piano pedagogy.
Institution Notes:
An independent community school of the arts founded in 1976. This All-Steinway School offers music instruction to young children, pre-professional music students and interested adults through its Early Childhood Program, its Preparatory Program and its Adult Program (‘A Little Day Music’). Performance tuition is available in piano, organ, harpsichord, guitar, recorder, voice and orchestral instruments, jazz (piano, double bass, electric bass, drums, saxophone), Suzuki piano, strings, flute and guitar. Other programs include theory, music history, composition, ensemble (choir, chamber music, orchestra), music technology, music theatre, Dalcroze eurhythmics, early childhood music, world music, dance. The Early Childhood Program offers an Orff Schulwerk approach for five to six year olds. Scholarships are available for gifted needy students. There are campuses in north-west and south-east Washington as well as in Maryland and Virginia. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
