Bachelor of Arts in Music. Four years. Majors in performance (classical, jazz), music education (with choral and instrumental conducting). Studies include music history, theory, aural skills. Bachelor of Science. Four years. Majors in audio production, recording technology.
Institution Notes:
A private historically black university founded in 1868 as the Hampton Normal and Agricultural college for African-American men and women. In 1878 it established a formal education program for Native Americans. It gained its current name and status in 1984. The music department has access to some fine performing spaces. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
