Institution Notes:
The university was founded in 1888 as an agricultural college. It gained its current name and status in 1957. The Caine College of the Arts offers programs in art and design, music and theatre arts. There is a thriving opera program. Study materials are available in large print, audio and braille forms for persons with disabilities. A number of Community Music programs offer music tuition to young children and interested members of the local community, including a Youth Conservatory, a String Academy, an Opera Outreach program and other instrumental and vocal groups.
