Institution Notes:
This institution was founded in 1971. It joined the University of Texas System in 1979 and was established as a four-year university in 1997. The music department is housed in the R Don Cowan Fine & Performing Arts Center and has access to several fine performance spaces and a state-of-the-art digital recording studio. It is an All-Steinway School. The new Centre for Musical Arts was opened in 2016 and offers new spaces for instrumental and choral rehearsal and teaching studios. There is a flourishing opera and musical theatre program.
