Institution Notes:
A state-supported university that opened in 1925 as a teachers’ college and gained its current name and status in 1993. The music department is housed in the Bellamah Music Building, with access to some fine performing spaces. There is an active opera program. The performing group Mariachi Javelina was one of the first to become attached to a university and has its headquarters at Texas A&M at Kingsville. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
