Diplôme de formation musicale. Four years. Studies include performance (classical, popular, African traditional instruments), ensemble, history of African and Western music, composition, theory, choral conducting.
Certificat d’aptitude professionnel. Three years. With specialisation in any of music, dance or plastic arts.
The Institute was created in 1985 and is organised under the jurisdiction of the National Centre of Performing and Audiovisual Arts (Centre National des Arts du Spectacle et de l'Audiovisuel). There are programs in music, visual arts and dance, with classes held in the evenings to allow access to the greatest number. The Institute's École de Musique was founded in 1985 under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism. In its current form it has been offering classes since 2016. There are courses in music, dance and fine arts. Entrance to the music program at the École de Musique is after six years of elementary school, though entry to the professional program follows completion of the secondary school program. The Institute arranges refresher courses in music, dance and fine arts for teachers.
