Bachelor of Arts in Music. Four years. Studies include performance, music history, theory, aural skills. An emphasis in worship leadership. Bachelor of Music. Four years. Studies include classical performance, theory, church music, music education (with choral and instrumental conducting).
Institution Notes:
A private liberal arts college founded in 1851 and affiliated with the Tennessee Baptist Convention. The music department is housed in the Mable Lewallen Tarr Music Building. The Ball Institute for Church Music houses a Center for Church Music that conducts and publishes scholarly research in church music. It conducts workshops for church music leaders, commissions new works for the church and is building a collection of sacred piano and instrumental literature. There is an active musical theatre/opera workshop on campus. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
