Institution Notes:
Founded in 1927 as a teacher training college, the university gained its current name and status in 1967. There is a Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts that brings international writers, musicians, performers and artists to the campus each year to work with students in master classes, concerts and workshops. Facilities include the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall and state-of-the-art technology suites. A Community School of the Arts offers tuition in music performance, visual art and dance to interested members of the local community. It includes a Kindermusik class for children aged between 6 months and 5 years. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
