The music program involves weekly ceremonial parades and other on and off campus events. Much opportunity is given for ensemble activities, including marching band, concert band, jazz band, pipe band and choral groups. There are two main bands - the Regimental Band of about 80 cadet musicians, and the Regimental Band & Pipes of around 30 to 35 pipers and drummers. A Fine Arts Club, founded in 2013, offers programs in various artistic areas and includes acoustic concerts given by cadets. There is a very extensive library of choral and instrumental ensemble music. Students in the music program may be awarded two years of credit for the fine arts elective towards the Citadel’s Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Engineering degrees.
