Institution Notes:
A state-supported university founded in 1888 as an agricultural school. It was granted its current name and status in 1951 and is the flagship institution for the state of Rhode Island. The music department offers a preparatory program in performance for pre-college and adult students. There is an active opera program. There is a Multicultural Center that offers a summer program with a broad range of performance options in world, folk and traditional musics to interested members of the local community. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
