Bachelor of Music. Four years. Studies include performance (classical, jazz, opera), composition, music history, theory, music education (with choral and instrumental conducting), pedagogy.
Master of Arts. In music history. Master of Music. In performance, choral, wind and orchestral conducting, theory and composition, music education (also with Kodály method, Orff Schulwerk, music technology), music history and literature.

A state-supported institution that can trace its history back to 1812. Its current name and status gained in 1983. The Samuel Barber Institute for Music Educators offers a combination of traditional academic courses and special subject seminars that may be applied to the master’s degrees in music education, performance, piano pedagogy, music history and literature, and music theory. There is a thriving opera program. The Center for Music Technology is equipped with professional-grade audio production resources. The School of Music is an All-Steinway School. It runs a community music program as well as a number of summer programs. A community outreach program features concerts and performances for the local community and region. There is an agreement with the department of music therapy at Immaculata University whereby students at West Chester University may enrol in the music therapy program at Immaculata University to prepare for registration as music therapists.
