Details:
Bachelor of Arts in Music. Four years. Studies include performance (classical, jazz), composition, music history, ethnomusicology, theory, aural skills, music education (with choral and instrumental conducting).
Institution Notes:
A private non-sectarian college founded in 1864 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). The Department of Music and Dance is housed in the Lang Music Building and the Lang Performing Arts Centre. There is a gamelan ensemble and a set of Taiko drums. An agreement exists between Swarthmore, Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges and the University of Pennsylvania whereby students may take individual courses at one of the other institutions for credit if that course is not being taught at their home college.
