Performance in piano, organ, guitar, recorder, orchestral instruments, Suzuki violin, Suzuki ‘cello, Suzuki piano, Suzuki guitar, musicianship, ensemble activities, jazz improvisation and ensembles, Taiko drums, general music and dance. Composition is offered on an individual basis.
Institution Notes:
An independent music school founded in 1908, offering general music programs to children and adults at the pre-college level, adult and senior adult levels, regardless of their ability to pay. Master classes and concerts are open to the public and are usually free. It is the largest community-based school of the arts in USA, with, in addition to the above address, branches at several other locations in the Philadelphia area. Other programs include: • A Children's Music Playshop for children ages 6 months to three years. Classes for children from age 3 based on pedagogies of Orff and Kodály. • A Kids & Teens performance class for children ages 4 to 18, individual or group. Suzuki training in piano, guitar and cello for 4- to 8-year-olds. • An adult performance training group. • Outreach programs are offered to schools, community groups and senior centres. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
