Institution Notes:
A private conservatorium founded in 1936. It offers programs both on-campus and by distance mode. The Conservatorio houses a well-equipped digital technology and recording laboratory. The ‘José Maria Neves’ research institute serves the areas of music education, musicology and music therapy. There is an active opera program and a well-equipped recording studio. The music therapy program serves people in the community free of charge. The Conservatorio has organised the Ronaldo Milleco Music Therapy Social Clinic serving the local community. A junior department offers an eight-year program of ‘iniciação musical’ to young children from age 7. Classes are held for older (‘third age’) persons. The Conservatorio organizes music camps for students in this and other private conservatories and organizes concerts in schools and the local community.
