Institution Notes:
A state-supported university, founded in 1967. The Department of Music is housed in the Creative Arts Center. The Department of Music has sponsored symposia on music and medicine. A collaboration of the Department of Music, the Department of Theatre, Dance and Motion Pictures and the Department of Art and Art History is named CELIA (Collaborative Education, Leadership and Innovation in the Arts) and has been named a Wright State University Center of Excellence. One of the projects operating under CELIA includes a class where future teachers learn to use music and art to teach science and mathematics. The Garrett Wright Musical Instrument collection contains over 200 historical instruments. There is a community music division in which music is an outreach program in applied music and other classes to students in the area. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
