Institution Notes:

The University was founded in 1870 and was originally known as the Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College. It gained its current name and status in 1878. The University’s College of the Arts has departments of theatre, visual communication design, history of art, dance, art, art education, arts and design and the school of music. The music school facilities include state-of-the-art sound synthesis studios, a music cognition laboratory, an advanced computing centre for the arts and design group and several fine performance spaces. There are two organs and two harpsichords. The School of Music administers the Cognitive and Systematic Musicology Laboratory with a program in music cognition, involving psychologists, music theorists, systematic musicologists, ethnomusicologists, cognitive scientists and philosophers - all interested in the study of music as a product of human minds/brains. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
