Institution Notes:
The university was founded in 1887 as a teachers’ college to train Native American public school teachers. It gained its current name and status in 1969 and joined the 16-campus University of North Carolina in 1972. The Department of Music is housed in Moore Hall, and has access to several fine performing spaces. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
