Training at all three levels in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music. Orff Schulwerk certification to Level III. A summer program. The Ireland program. An introduction to Irish traditional music during a two-week visit to Ireland. Trinidad and Tobago program. Study of the culture of these islands, and workshops of steel pan. Taken at the University of the West Indies St Augustine campus in Trinidad.
Institution Notes:
The University was founded in 1899 as a teachers' college and gained its current name and status in 1967. The Musicum Collegium specialises in early music performance. There is an active opera program. Facilities include a state-of-the-art recording studio and sets of Indian tablas, African percussion instruments and a steel pan ensemble. In addition to the professional programs the School offers music instruction to children and interested members of the local community, and organises an annual music camp for high school musicians. Alexander Technique is available to all students. The Appalachian State University forms part of the 16-campus university that makes up the University of North Carolina.
