Emphases in performance (classical, opera), composition, business and music industry, contemporary or traditional worship, music education (with choral and instrumental conducting).


Institution Notes:

A not-for-profit private liberal arts university, founded in 1905, and supported by the North Carolina Baptist State Convention. The School of Visual and Performing Arts consists of divisions of music, theatre and art. There is a flourishing music theatre/opera program. The 48-bell Hollifield Carillon is located on campus - it is the first ever to provide dynamic expression by performance upon an electronic keyboard. It also allows the carillonneur to record multiple selections and program its play each day of the week at specified times. The music department owns a set of handbells. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
