Details:

Professional Artist Diploma. A collaborative course with Mercy College at the end of which students are awarded both the Bachelor of Science (from Mercy College) and the Professional Artist Diploma (from the Conservatory). Studies include advanced performance (classical, jazz), composition.


Institution Notes:

A not-for-profit community music school founded in 1929, offering a broad program of individual and ensemble instruction for children and adults, as well as a college degree program in collaboration with Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York. The Conservatory is organized into divisions: • Early Childhood Division. Programs from infancy to eight years, music and movement, pre-school music, introduction to instruments, Suzuki violin and ‘cello, group piano, violin and guitar, recorder class. • Music Skills. For children from age 3 to 5. A sequential Dalcroze curriculum featuring rhythm, melody and harmony through rhythm games, creative movement, ear training, songs, stories and improvisation. • Youth Programs. Ages 8 to 12. Classes in performance (classical, jazz in all styles), ensemble, theory, musicianship. More advanced Teen Programs cater for young people up to age 18/19. • Honors Program. For instrumental and vocal students ages 12 to 18. Graduates receive the Artist Certificate. This is a pre-college program. • College Program. This program collaborates with Mercy College and offers a music major leading to a Bachelor of Science degree from Mercy College and a Professional Artist Diploma from the Conservatory. Non-music majors from Mercy College may take elective classes at the Conservatory. • Adult Division. Individual instruction and group classes; orchestra and ensembles,. The Conservatory offers a summer course in Dalcroze techniques. The Music Therapy Institute, offers a program of music therapy for the disabled in the local area.
