Institution Notes:
An independent liberal arts college for women, founded in 1889 and affiliated with Columbia University. There are two opera companies in residence - Opera Hispanica and the Brooklyn Opera Theater. Exceptionally talented students may receive permission to take performance lessons at the Manhattan School of Music or the Juilliard School and musicology courses at the music department at Columbia University.
