Master of Music. In performance, piano pedagogy and performance, choral, orchestral and wind band conducting, composition, jazz studies, music history, theory, music education, woodwind specialty groups. There are programs in opera, musical theatre. Doctor of Musical Arts. Doctor of Philosophy.


Institution Notes:

A state-supported university founded in 1869. Its School of Music was founded in 1894 and is housed in the Westbrook Music Building with access to a number of fine performance venues including the Kimball Recital Hall and the Lied Center for Performing Arts. The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, founded in 1993, includes programs in art, art history, theatre, film and new media, dance, music and music education. Music programs are offered through the College's Glenn Korff School of Music. A new Music Technology Center caters for the needs of the music fraternity. The library houses the Rokahr collection of opera and opera performance materials. The Lentz Center for Asian Culture houses a collection of south-east Asian instruments and artefacts. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
