Details:

Bachelor of Science in Music. Four years. Studies in theory/composition (traditional, jazz/popular), music history/culture, world music, music technology. Private performance lessons require audition. A joint major is offered with Bachelor of Science in Humanities and Engineering/Science.

Institution Notes:

A private university that can trace its history back to 1846. It is traditionally known for research and education in the physical sciences, technology and engineering, but also has extensive programs in other areas. The Rosalind Denny Lewis Music Library contains scores and recordings of music of composers associated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as programs and clippings of music activities at the Institute. The music department owns a set of Senegalese drums and a Balinese gamelan (Galak Tika).
