Institution Notes:

A private, comprehensive co-educational Jesuit Catholic university that can trace its history back to 1849 as Loyola College. It gained its current name and status in 1912. The College of Music sees its particular strengths as in music therapy, music education, jazz studies, vocal performance and music business. The library holds a large collection of recordings of folk and traditional music of Louisiana. The music department has access to several fine performance spaces. The College of Music and Fine Arts houses a Center for Music and Arts Entrepreneurship, organised in collaboration with three other higher-learning institutions in New Orleans. It aims to assist musicians, artists, arts educators and arts entrepreneurs to launch their careers. The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz operates from the campus of Loyola University.
