Institution Notes:

A state-supported university founded in 1895. The College of Fine Arts offers programs in music, theatre, art and dance. The School of Music is housed in the Duerksen Fine Arts Center and holds a collection of North American Indian flutes. The school sees its particular strengths in percussion and opera performance (for which a number of valuable scholarships are available). It works together with the local company Opera Kansas. A preparatory program offers training in musicianship to young children of kindergarten age. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
