Institution Notes:

A private university founded in 1855, being one of the ten oldest music schools in the nation. The Jordan College of the Arts offers programs in music, theatre, dance, art and arts administration. The music department is housed in Lilly Hall, and has access to a number of fine performing spaces. Facilities include a state-of-the art electronic music studio and digital arts equipment housed in the Multisensory Learning Facility. The library holds The Harold E Johnson Jean Sibelius Collection, an archive of scores, recordings, books, pamphlets, photos and ephemera of the composer. There is also the Stitt-Harper Collection of popular sheet music from the 1860s to the 1960s. The College has active collaboration with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, the Indianapolis Opera, Indianapolis Children’s Choir, Dance Kaleidoscope and the American Pianists Association. The Butler Community Arts School offers music tuition to children and interested members of the local community. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
