Details:
Bachelor of Arts in Music. Four years. Concentrations in performance (classical, jazz), music education (with choral and instrumental conducting), piano pedagogy, music in worship. Studies include music history, theory, aural skills. Minors in musical theatre and music in worship are offered.
Institution Notes:
A Christian liberal arts college in the Anabaptist Mennonite tradition, established in 1894. Students have opportunities to have periods of study abroad. There is an active opera program. The music department holds the Hartzler Collection of 3,300 volumes of early American music and hymnody. The library holds the Mary K Oyer African Music Archive, a collection of 150 tape recordings of music from 22 African countries. Goshen College has established a Community School of the Arts, offering performance tuition to interested members of the local community.
