There are two faculties – performance (specialisation as concert performer, opera singer, orchestral musician or teacher) and history/theory (specialisation in composition, choral and orchestral conducting, theory, musicology, folk music of Azerbaijan). Singers may specialise as opera singer, chamber singer, teacher or music theatre actor. A scientific laboratory for the restoration and improvement of medieval Azerbaijan instruments was established in 1991, and a laboratory for the investigation of professional oral music traditions was set up in 1992. International students are welcome. The attached Bulbul Secondary Special Music School gives tuition to talented young musicians.
